Nothing beats a Greggs when you’re looking for a hearty, pastry-filled lunch, or a good old cake. Their sausage rolls are none other than a national treasure if you ask me. The food retailer has added some limited addition options to their menu, available from now until the 22nd of May.

    So what’s on offer?

For a hearty soup option, welcome the Chunky Meat and Vegetable Soup. Basically a roast dinner in a soup in the best way possible, if you’re a soup-person, you’ll like this one. The chunky soup contains pulled chicken breast, beef, smoked bacon and chunky vegetables potato, carrot, onion, swede, cabbage and leeks thrown into the mix. And at only 141 calories, it’s a healthy option for a warming lunch or snack.

Greggs are getting exotic too, introducing Mexican flavours in their new additions. First comes the Nacho Chilli Cheese Roll, the new addition which resembles a sausage roll by appearance, but with totally different fillings. The sweet potato, roasted veg, mixed beans, quinoa and jalapenos and cheese sauce is encased in a puff pastry roll, with a cheesy crumb topping. With those fillings, this roll is likely to be full of flavour.

The Mexican theme continues in the new wrap Greggs have introduced. The Mexican Chipotle Chilli Wrap contains Mexican style chicken breast, a mixed salad including peppers to add crunch, and a mix of chilli sauce and mayo.

As for something that resembles their famous chicken bakes, come the Pork, Bacon and Cheddar Lattice pastry. As the name suggests, the puff pastry case is filled with port, bacon and cheesy garlic sauce for the ultimate meaty pastry snack. The pastry also has a corn and pork crackling style topping to add extra flavour.

If you love Greggs for the cakes, cookies and donuts, there are three new additions to try. First, for those with the sweetest of teeth, there’s the Caramel Cookie Doughnut. The doughnut has a biscuit flavour, with a caramel topping, and a spiced biscuit sprinkled on top for a bit of crunch. At 345 calories, it’s a real treat.

The second doughnut-newbie is the Lemon Sherbet Ring Doughnut; with a sherbet flavoured topping it’s the perfect treat for lovers of sweet and tangy flavours. A cheaper option than the caramel addition, it’s also got a lower calorie count at 245.

And finally, for cookie-lovers out there, the new Salted Caramel Cookie is likely to tickle your taste-buds. Salted caramel is the caramel’s trendier sibling, and so the mixture of salted caramel, and white and milk chocolate chunks, it’s a chocolatey treat at only 141 calories.
