Seasalt Cornwall Recall Chocolate due to Undeclared Allergen

Clothing, footwear and home ware company Seasalt Cornwall are recalling two varieties of their chocolate bars. The brand has 350 stockists across the UK, and sells products in their own independent stores, as well as selected John Lewis and Fenwick stores.

The varieties, as reported by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), are the Eton Mess White Chocolate, and Lemon Meringue Chocolate 100g and 95g bars. The reason for the recall is due to the undeclared egg in the products; a common allergen, this therefore putting anyone with allergy or intolerance to egg at a possible health risk.

The product details and best before dates of the two varieties are as follows:

Product: Seasalt Cornwall Eton Mess White Chocolate Bar
    Pack Size: 100g
    Best Before Dates:
    • 21 June 2017
    • 17 July 2017
    • 30 July 2017
    • 20 August 2017
    • 10 September 2017
    • 1 October 2017

Product: Seasalt Cornwall Lemon Meringue Chocolate Bar
    Pack Size: 95g
    Best Before: 29 March 2017

The company are urging customers with egg allergy or intolerance who have purchased the above varieties to return to the store of purchase to receive a full refund.

No other Seasalt Cornwall food products are affected
    .
If an individual with egg intolerance or allergy consumes products containing egg, symptoms, as reported by the NHS, may include:

    • an itchy sensation inside the mouth, throat or ears
    • a raised itchy red rash (urticaria, or "hives")
    • swelling of the face, around the eyes, lips, tongue and roof of the mouth (angioedema)
    • vomiting

The NHS continues in informing that most mild to moderate food allergy reactions are treated with antihistamines. If you have any allergic reactions to the Seasalt Cornwall chocolate bars, or any other product containing allergens, seek medical advice.
